Overview
Apne Aap Women Worldwide is a grassroots Indian organization that empowers
marginalized girls and women to resist and end sex trafficking.
In early 2012, Storm Warriors International made a personal visit to multiple Apne Aap locations in India, to embed in the work being done there. Apne Aap fights sex trafficking by acknowledging both the supply side and the demand side of the industry. The organization feels it is important to increase choices for women and fight for legislation and enforcement against pimps, traffickers, and customers who pay for sex. Apne Aap enables women to help themselves by providing a community experience, basic educational skills, and basic business and vocational training.

OUR VISION
Our vision is of a world where no girl or woman is bought or sold, where each girl or woman can realize her full potential.
Our Theory of Change is inspired by the twin Gandhian principles of:
- Ahimsa (non-violence): Resisting violence to the self and to the other
- Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person): Antyodaya’s last person is the prostituted girl or woman
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is to help the Last girl re-gain control of her destiny. The last girl is poor, female, low-caste or lower-class, and often a teenager. Additionally, she may be the daughter or sister of a prostituted woman or a victim of child marriage or domestic servitude. She is preyed upon by traffickers because of her lack of choices and becomes an unwilling part of the “supply.” Traffickers and Clients who buy and sell these girls from the “demand.” Our approach simultaneously tackles both the “supply side” and the “demand side”of the sex trafficking industry – from the grassroots to the tree tops.
